For years kids have been my work. I’ve been a teacher, a children’s writer, an education consultant, and a curriculum specialist and writer for kids TV shows. Children have been the object of nearly all of my passion and attention. Before having kids I was quite certain that I knew a lot about kids. But now I’m a mom and man has that role put me in my place. I am humbled every day by the little and big things that come my way as a mother. I am astounded by my my goofs and mishaps. I am also astounded by the complete and utter joy and mind blowing hearbreaking love that comes with having a child. I am really helpless in the face of all that parenting has made me feel. So I thought I’d write a bit about it. Thanks for having a read and please feel free to leave a few stories of your own.

  2. Hi Rebecca!
I just read your Mother’s Day posting and I couldn’t agree more, I really like your honesty and encouraging tone. I look forward to reading more.
I just started my own blog on Surviving Single Motherhood:

I also thought your description of About You, was excellent and so accurate I can’t tell you how many times I use to say I knew everything after taking care of my own siblings and then godchildren later on in life, but boy was I wrong. The other thing I can’t stand is how so many single childless friends try to give you advice and say that they understand, when they have NO CLUE, it’s really infuriating, it’s times like this were I would just like to walk out of the room and play a broken record for them..
Keep writing and Happy Belated Mother’s Day!
